Title: RAW editing contest 21#
Post by: golunvolo on August 26, 2016, 02:13:02
An old image taken with nikon d200 and 17-35 2.8.

  https://www.dropbox.com/s/3syk53j2tq62hr9/_DSC5978.NEF?dl=0

A newer image taken with nikon d700 and rodenstock 95 1.4

  https://www.dropbox.com/s/ws94o62aduiim8x/_FVR8332.NEF?dl=0

Choosing an image for other people to play with is proven way more difficult than expected. I hope you enjoy the challenge.

In general I would prefer if we leave it at one RAW file per Contest, because it is much earier to compare results.

I had 7 different files ready to upload. This contests are almost forgotten by now so I don´t think is a bad idea to give some options if that can get it rolling.

A good and new challenge for me, working with a facial close up.
I experienced a lack of skill with the skin tone and masking. Trying to sharpen the hair strands effected the sharpness on the skin.
I cloned out some of the black shadows in the hair, and removed the green in the back ground. It was a detractor for me.
Then I spent a little time on the Blue in the eyes.

I thought about recoloring her hair....
Then I saw the yellow core of the flower
innards are a good match for her eye make up...

Frank, It feels like eyes viewing into a kaleidoscope.
I have seen beautiful book matched stratifications in Stone set out in quadrants in Grandiose Office Receptions, that have a similar appearance as well.

Thank you John, feel inspired and DO participate!

There is no limit on entries per person and the Contest runs until the Thread Opener calls it.

If it is up to me, I will run the contest 24+ more hours, until august 30th -tomorrow- at 22:00. I think is enough time if someone wants to make a late contribution, we have had a weekend of contest already and I will be out of town -and internet- for some time after that.

Consider yourself warned, time´s almost up.

Thanks for all the participants. In random order, until the winner:
   Elsa, no worries, next time.

John, great commitment 1st is scary! 2nd much prettier and I prefer, even if not convinced, the 3rd one. Bold try.

Fons, I like this one specially because is far away from my own interpretation. Glamorous soft and luminous, thanks for the new view.

Frank, I wasn´t expecting that :) Thanks! Fantasy/ syfy approach

Armando, I like your edit becase -in opposition to Fons- yours is very close to what I did. Still think it fits the subject very well.

   and the winner is.....

   .....

   .....

Almass, that light intruding the image, color treatment, crop!...it is a new photo, stronger by simmetry and heavier, luminous with a exotic -arabic?- flavor to it. It is this change in character that I think deserves the higher praise.

Please, start a new -"RAW editing contest 22#" at your earliest convenience.

   Thank you all again!

from the edits a couple of edits had eye lashes removed and also what seem to be a hair on the other eye

your original edit left them as is
