Title: Event ...
Post by: armando_m on August 19, 2016, 23:50:53
I went invited to a celebration , it was a mix of different things, some people performed a sort of abstract theater, models in night dresses, a band playing

I didn't know the location or if I would be able to move, etc ... took the D800 and the 50mm f1.8 , in the end it was pleasant, nice music, beer, and I was able to move around freely, talk to the people, and get close except when the models were in the "cat walk"

The location is used as a theater, and has somewhat decent lights, better than other dark places where I have been

Here is a collage of a model I particularly  liked ...

Armando, very nice.  You seem to have beautiful women to photograph where ever you go  :) .  I just realized that I have not had the 50 1.8G on a camera since I bought the 58 1.4G.  I need to give it some use or sell it.  Also seems I have many women to photograph but most seem to be closer to my age than the age of your models  ;) ... soft focus a lot .
Thanks for sharing,
Tom

Thanks Frank and Tom

The girls start as good looking , plus they go through quite a transformation effort, the dress, makeup and hair has been all carefully prepared, they know how to move and pose, they know where to stand in the light, I just happened to be there and enjoyed the moment.

The light as I said was fairly good, I was able to shoot at 1/160 ISO 200 f1.8, vs other times when I'm hitting the high ISO limits of the D800 at 6400 and even at  f1.8 barely able to keep a decent speed, with problems of camera shake, subject movement , noise, lack of dynamic range, white balance problems

Looking the other way , was the band, here is the saxophone player, a crop of a bigger image and processed to b&w / sepia

Great series Armando.  My absolute favourite is the right one of the first image.

Can't help but agree.  This image and the model is quite delightful.  Nice work Armando - a great series indeed.

Great series Armando.  My absolute favourite is the right one of the first image.

Great capture of the sax player; also, the guy in the background has got the "exacty right" amount of blur and grain.

Some fabulous images Armando. Amazing control of light in these circumstances giving memorable images. The sax player is a masterpiece of captured emotion and atmosphere right down to the faded face in the background of that image.

Beautiful girl and great photos Armando. Love the saxophone player's shot as well. Always enjoyed your monochrome conversions.

I love the saxs player's expression and the contrast to the man in the background. Everything works in that photo!
