i actually find his commentaries hilarious at times. his repair and overhaul videos are awesome but I just watch it to listen to him complaint.

at the 4:30s mark, you can see that the production of optical glass is actually a very wasteful process.

Thank you for sharing. Even without spoken text most of what was going on was self explanatory. Very informative, even though I would have loved to understand the narrator as well.
I also liked seeing Japan in the 1960's

I was a fabricator at a Laser optic factory for three years and I thought that was tedious, man this is how it was done.
Finding the correct orientation of the crystal and hoping it doesn't crack or shatter precision shaping, Concaving and Convexing!! :o
I did that stuff as well as polishing, never worked at the coating department.
So next time you get lens flare on a Nikkor-O 35mm f2 think about how much work went into it and how long it has been working..
