A family wedding was held last weekend in the magnificent Playfair Library of Edinburgh University's Old College building. Though I studied in Edinburgh, I had never seen this before. (It is named after the architect, Sir William Playfair.)

Magnificent! But were are the books?
-
Look left or right of the main aisle .... The grand scale of the Library comes over very well.
The Library at Trinity College, Dublin, has a similar layout, by the way.

beautifully executed! thanks for sharing

Thanks for your kind comments, Elsa, Eric and Bjørn (who is right about where the books - 250,000 of them - are situated)/

Impressive place
verticals seem 100% upright, well done

That's quite a venue for a wedding. Truly majestic! Thanks for sharing Dave!

Thanks, Armando. The image is not quite exactly symmetrical, left to right, but I did get the verticals pretty straight. I do believe that getting the geometry right is important with this kind of image, this kind of subject. either that, or totally break all the rules with an ultra-wide or fish-eye.
Anirban - this part of the old university is "for hire" - functions, meetings, lectures, seminars - and weddings. We were there only 40mins or so - a quick (non-religious) wedding ceremony, then off elsewhere for the food, drink, and dancing. :D :D

Well seen and very well executed!

Thanks, Fred.
