A wee bit before my time
-
Wonderful man eating machine.
-
I remember Gary Predmore took a bunch of us punks to a Los Angeles Rams football game in a candy apple red custom 1959 Chevy Impala. I don't remember anything about the game except that it was held at the Los Angeles Colosseum.
Davy who was probably ten years old at the time.

The Impala looks good !

One see images of these boats from time to time - but when you stand next to it - you realise exactly how large they really are. They really are ships.
There are 3 of these at the Game Reserve I went to on Friday. Parked under a carport, its dusty. But the car's insides are immaculate. Space limited obviously.
Another one.

:) such radical design in the back
-
Indeed Armando. Imagine filling it up!
-
my next car. ;D

Elsa,
Unfortunately, not before my time. In 1959, GM reached its pinnacle of fins and chrome on its cars. The 59 Caddy and Chevy were the crowning achievements. Great to see this car is also coveted in SA.
Thanks,
Lowell

For a period of time from the late fifties and through the sixties, these were considered "normal" or "average" cars in the USA.
-
These pictures bring back a lot of memories. Because these belong to my very early ages.
-
Thanks guys - I absolutely love the finned ones. SO wish I had one for a shoot. These are at the Private Game Reserve I go to on tour - so everybody runs after the wildlife - not the cars - but me - of course I run after anything I see.
-
The fifties were the "Jet Age" in the USA and the 57s to 59s had fins running wild. The 1959 Cadillac was the ultimate. The Cadillac I covet is the 1957 Eldorado hardtop.

Nice Elsa, this was indeed before my time - I feel very young now ;D
But I had this Chevrolet Impala as a Dinky Toy in black wit red seats so it brings back good memories !
To stay in the mood here is a 1958 Ford Edsel Pacer that was a commercial failure.

I love seeing these old ones - thanks for the posting your pics.
Can you for a minute think what was going thru the car "designers" while drawing those fins? As opposed to what goes thru today's designers.
Bob - there is a red one like that floating around my area - in pristine condition too -
