This tiny red squirrel blasted onto the deck and made straight for my box of Wheat Thin crackers as though he knew exactly what he was doing. I had no choice but to toss him a cracker to prevent loss of the entire box. The Wheat Thin is nearly as large as his head. It's all too cute for words.

Cute pic Andrea, I love the third shot.

Very appealing.
I reckon he knew he had to pose to pay for the thin. He probably calculated that he is using his cuteness you to keep supplying.

Indeed it's cute! I love the last image: a fitting one to conclude the story.

Very cute. You are sure this is really a red squirrel?
Our red squirrels look much different....

Frank, the red squirrel here in Maine is Tamiasciurus hudsonicus which is indeed different from your cute European version. But I have to say that this particular specimen was altogether rather scruffy. Usually these little guys have a sleeker coat and bushier tail. It might have been a young one - or maybe an old one?
Thanks everyone for stopping by. 8)

Wikipaedia says: "The red squirrel or Eurasian red squirrel (Sciurus vulgaris) is a species of tree squirrel in the genus Sciurus common throughout Eurasia" ... never stops learning the old fool from old Germany ;-)
