This bizarre kite thing(20ft tall), then a more traditional version, both captured today.

thanks for looking, any opinions very welcome.

First one is difficult to tell how big it is by just looking at the image , it would have been interesting to see how many people were controlling such a thing, if it was my image I'll lower the high lights and increase contrast
#2, much nicer contrast, i'll probably crop it horizontal and avoid the bright cloud at the bottom

wonderful!
We have a Kite Festival every year - and people come from allover the world.
They are wonderful to see, and so many different designs. I hear those big ones costs an arm, leg and a wife.

Tony, I like both of these with #2 being my favorite.
The first one looks like a balloon more than a kite to me. I have never seen one flown as a kite.
Image #2 has a solid graphical composition and bold colors that I would like to see larger and hanging on a wall.

Tony:
Both are interesting, and the texture in the darker blues on #2 remind me of sheep skin.
A really wide shot from behind the person flying the 1st one, to give some sense of scale would have been interesting.

Thanks guys, appreciate your thoughts and suggestions.
The first image shows a large figure which was actually held aloft by an aero foil canopy attached to it's upper portion by a line perhaps 50 meters long, the whole thing was attached to a heavy duty ground anchor, I doubt any person would be able to hold the combination without becoming airborne or worse, lol. As I was using a telephoto zoom I couldn't fit the complete outfit in the frame, there were lots of people positioned around the anchor point so gave up trying to photograph it. The second image is as is because I like the contrast in the sky, it is also enhanced for effect.

No2 for me Tony as it has a bit of the rocket ship about it, the splash of red really stands out against the clouds!
