Does anyone know whether there is a difference between the Nikon Magnifying Finder Model 1 and the DG-2 Magnifying Finder apart from the ocular thread and the eyecup (DG-2)?
-
The earliest models might have a smaller diameter of the ocular and thus not as convenient as the newer ones. I have only used the DG-3 myself (the 90 degree angled).
Such finder attachments are not very convenient, though. A hassle to attach/remove and given today's overly bright screens, not really a helper in finding best focus either.

I use DK-17M the whole time on my D7100 (by adapting a DK-22), and DK-21M on my D40x and D5100.
Bjørn, you are possibly referring to DR-3 the right angle finder?
I find it quite useful for night sky imaging high in the sky, not sure about other purposes as aiming the camera looking down get a little weird, copy stands come to my mind as one application. There is no magnification with this one.

I stand corrected. DR-3 it is.
