Title: [Portfolio] Driving Classic Cars in England
Post by: PeterN on March 31, 2016, 12:44:27
Recently I had the opportunity to drive the English countryside in a classic Mercedes-Benz 300SL. A wonderful experience. Herewith an impression. Converted in Silver Efex.

Peter those are really nice cars. I wouldn't mind having one  ::)
Your photos look like you took them 50 years ago. Well done!

"... except for the phones that did not exist ;-)"

My sentiment exactly when looking at these nice pictures. Fifty years ago, we hadn't yet been exposed to the Selfie-hysteria.

Flat-cap country so must be northern parts of the UK?

No, it was west-sussex in the south near the Goodwood Estate. I was there for the Goodwood Member Meeting at a comapny's invitation to report about it. I will post about it later

I stand corrected. Flat-caps immediately direct my thought to Yorkshire. Hence my suggestion.

This is such a wonderful series, Peter. I like each one of them. Odometer shot, wheel close up shots are classic!

What a beautiful series.

I just luv the Merc 300/SL and in order not to pollute your thread, I will start with a separate one for my collection of Classic Cars photos and include my Gullwing Merc pics.

Really nice shots.  I notice that all of the Mercs are left hand drive models.  Were they imported from the continent or were they visiting?

That would be great!

The car I was driving in, so that's why you may no have recognized it. ;-)

Really nice shots.  I notice that all of the Mercs are left hand drive models.  Were they imported from the continent or were they visiting?

I guess so. These cars are owned by Goodwood members and are lend out. At least, that is my understanding. I know for sure that one car is from France and was shipped over for the event.
