Title: Nikon F3P - Marty Forscher Modified
Post by: RonVol on March 31, 2016, 08:13:43
Here's an interesting body that I acquired from a retired photo journalist.
First off: It's an ex NEWSDAY work-horse.................although it doesn't look as if it has seen all that much work.

Second: It's a very early body - the 134th 'P' body off the production line.

Third: It has a couple of modifications made by the NY City camera repair guru Marty Forscher.
The 1st part-modification is what Marty calls a "Pro-Bracket Device".

Here's a video showing Marty explaining how it works - https://youtu.be/KwecKv_5NYc
Explanation starts at 2:23.
Make sure you watch the whole video, absolutely fascinating what they did in that little shop.

The 2nd modification made by Marty Forscher is the modification of the film/shutter gate, to create a mask. This would help identify the particular camera/photographer that shot the negative.
