Greetings all. Here's a brief introduction:
Former pro, now amateur, photographer from the Midwestern United States and a Nikon user for 30 years. My first slr was an FG-20 with series E 50mm 1.8 lens. I learned a lot with that little combination. Bjorn's Nikon Lens Evaluations was a goto resource for my pre-purchase research for years. I still use it when looking at MF glass. Invaluable. I own a good many MF Nikkors thanks to those reviews. A web search of his name led me to this site. I'm now completely digital using a D800e and D7100. But I don't really enjoy using them much anymore. I was considering making a switch to a lighter mirrorless system but I've been reading comments here about the Df and now I think I need one of those instead. I'll need to part with some stuff I no longer use first but I think I'll have one soon. Anyway...I'll be reading quietly and will contribute if and when I can. Thanks.

Try renting or borrowing DSLR bodies before you buy them. For me it is always a touch and love or touch and not be touched thing with cameras.
Last buying decision was between a D600 and a D800E. After one week of heavy usage the D800E had to go, although she had many features I really liked, esp the low light AF compared to the D600. An emotional thing and a question of handling.
Later I tested the Df, the D810, the D750, but the D600 prevailed as my most used body.
Welcome. I am sure with the knowledge and experience you find the equipment you like. We have Sony, Olympus, Leica and Fuji shooters here as well.
Feel free to contribute!

Welcome Wes. I too am from the Midwest USA (Michigan). I'm also a collector of old (and new) Nikon glass. Looking forward to seeing your work.
Cheers,
Nick

My wife is from Troy, MI and a proud University of Michigan grad. I've become quite fond of the state.

Welcome to NikonGear from a guy from Paris... :) I hope you'll find some pleasures using the Df like most of us here (even if we do have other cameras) :D
