I got one on loan from Nikon for the Easter weekend. Really enthusiastic about it. Found out it can do about 12-14 high power pops equalling the D5 frame rate, with only 4 batteries. Radio trigger is really small, and can also be turned if you don't like it pointing upwards. The flash unit itself is slightly smaller than the SB-900 and weight point is lower than with previous speedlights. Build quality is more solid than with previous generation speedlights. Controls seem easy to learn and master, I still have not found use for the supplied manual.

Monday is scheduled for D5 and SB-5000 testing so drop a comment here if there is anything in particular you want to know.

Thanks Vilhelm! i am going to play around with one this week at Nikon :o :o :o
the rep knows that i am a speedlight fan so he scheduled something for me because im a familiar face at the repair shop/showroom.
this is like a dream come true for me. however, the price is just too high :(

by the way, i intend to use it with the D4, D750 and the D7200 :o :o :o
i already have the wireless remote thing for a long time and i want my SB700 and SB900 to fire via radio, is this possible with any attachments?

I got my SB-5000. With only one flash, the wireless function still need to wait a bit.

BTW, taking about flash.
Last week, I ordered a Profoto OCF B2 kit (http://profoto.com/offcameraflash/). Should be getting it next week.
Nice thing is that it can do HighSpeed Sync with Nikon bodies up to 1/4000s and is able to do TTL flash.
Should be nice for open aperture flash photography in daylight.

wow, if they managed to make that as powerful as the 900 then that is awesome!
are you talking about the tiny wireless transmitter? I already have the Nikon WT-3 something wireless gadget that looks like a key chain. from my understanding, that can be used to trigger the SB-5000 as well? sorry, the nikon site can get confusing sometimes, specially when they mix product names into the discussion to fool you into buying more than you need

this looks nice, specially that it's compact :o :o :o
i dont do a lot of strobist lately but the nikon cls hsa been my bread and butter for a long time. it's probably the best off flash system available native to any camera brand
