That road most assuredly deserves the name :D

I was initially puzzled, then pleased, by the framing you had arrived at. When I recently was visiting Erik Lund in
Copenhagen, we had a discussion on landscapes from a national artist's perspective. Norwegians, being surrounded by mountains almost everywhere, tend to portray a landscape in which the sky is a smaller portion of the whole, whilst Danes do the opposite. Just think of the "Skagen" painters around the end of the 19th century. So in this perspective you truly have broken out of the box.

I like this kind of minimalistic photos that I have to look twice at to see what's going on. Beautiful pastel blue.

When I was in Denmark, and especially in Skagen, I also tended to include more of the sky in my photos than I normally do in Norway.
BBC4 will send a series called "Art in Scandinavia", I believe there will be a program from each Scandinavian country, and at least the Norwegian part will be about landscape artists. (And they actually came to Tromsø in March to do a short interview with me for use in the program.)

I like the minimalistic composition. What I am missing is some kind of scale reference.

Thanks for the comments. And the difference between norwegians and danes was interesting. I have never been to other parts of Denmark than Greenland, so I have no experience with the danish landscapes. But on the ship to and from Greenland, I saw the horizon and more sky than I am used to. I did some experimenting with high and low, minimalistic horizon photographing on that trip.

Usually I don't like wide angle for landscapes because it often gives me more sky than my liking, probably a result of the typical norwegian in me. But this time I used 200mm for captureing the sky ;)

What I am missing is some kind of scale reference.

My idea was the road as the scale reference, but I understand if it is difficult to recognize.

Anyone familiar with those roads would immediately recognise the scale. slight more than 1 lane wide so two cars might be able to pass each other - just barely.

I love the framing. A very clean shot, simple and effective.

Bjørn J: Will have to look out for that show. Any idea when it will be released?

Sorry, no. They would send me copy on DVD when they finished the editing.

Thanks again for all comments.

For those that do not understand the dimensions of the snow, I have this picture. There is a huge wheel loader with a powerfull snowblower behind the excavator
