Here is a selection from my recent trip south.
-
A few more.
-
Anthony, those turquoise blues look amazing!
-
Just love the tones in the first images - Wow!
-
The iceberg shining in emerald green in #2 is amazing! Other images are also worth appreciating. Thanks for sharing!
-
Colors and forms of 7909 and 7881 for me. Is that a Russian boat you travel on?
-
Beautiful!
-
Thank you all, I am glad you like them.
Frank, the ship was Russian, chartered to a Canadian company called One Ocean. I have travelled with this company before and highly recommend them. The crew of the ship are Russian, but the expedition leaders and guides are international.

Gorgeous Ice scapes ! :)
colors in 1,2,3 are truly wonderful
Thanks for sharing these Anthony
-
Thank you, Armando. It was a surprise to discover how varied is the colour of icebergs.
-
Beautiful. The colours in #2 are really amazing.
-
Wow, these are spectacular, particularly the first 3.
-
John, Joergen, many thanks.
-
+1 to all of the above.
6th one -first of the second post- is a natural formation? It is impressive how much it looks like one of the "easter island heads"
Not jealous at all...
Thanks for sharing it!
-
Beautiful photos Anthony. I'm amazed to see how different the colours can be under different conditions.
Was metering tricky under such circumstances?
-
Golunvolo, thank you, the formation is natural. Wind, snow and water sculpt extraordinary shapes, and I also though this one was reminiscent of an Easter Island head.
Anirban, thank you, the colours vary according to the light, but also as a result of events at the time of formation of the ice - the saltiness of the water is important, and also the salt can sometimes leave the ice. They are much more complicated than I ever thought.
As for metering, Nikon matrix metering was surprisingly accurate, although sometimes I opened up the aperture a little. There was a lot of trial and error!

Thanks for mentioning that Anthony. There was a time I ended up with grey-ish underexposed photos of snow covered land, when I relied on camera's metering (it wasn't nikon though).
-
Anirban, there were three photography tutors on the ship, all of them skilled professionals. Two used Nikon and one Canon. They all agreed that the Nikon matrix system needed less exposure compensation for snow than the Canon system. It was interesting that the Canon photographer agreed with this.

some awesome images - Mongo would love to have gone there !
-
Thank you Mongo.

Revisiting this thread I am even deeper impressed by the feelings these shots invoke. This is the best I can say about a shot: That it makes me feel I am there, that you as a pghotographer take me on a journey with my eyes and take my emotions with you. Masterful.
-
Frank, thank you, that is high praise.
-
Wow, wow wow!!! What a great trip with photos equal to match!
-
Thanks, Gary, I am glad you like them.
