Lovely wildlife shot! Including much of the background helps telling a story about the animals :)

Thank you everyone.  I have been home for three weeks now but am still going through the photos.  This particular excursion is based in Ushuaia, so it is not necessary to be on a ship to see it as was the case with the inside passage.

Nice image Ron.  The composition and tones are very pleasing, well done.  :)

Ron, the particular one really stands out in the batch shown in your website.  The bird on the peak of the rock is an important compositional element.

The vignetting of the image makes the image a bit too artificial to my taste, but it should be just me.

The colors of the rock seem almost like a vignette

The vignette was not an added effect. It was the natural vignetting of the 70-300 VR and I had inadvertently not taken it out.  Akira has very sharp eyes.   Here is the image with lens corrections, you may notice more sharpening has been applied too.  I am undecided as to which one is better.

Gorgeous image, Ron.

Personally I prefer the first one. The 'natural' vignetting brings the focus more to the subjects on the photo.

Ron, thanks for taking your time to post the image with the vignetting corrected.  I noticed the bird simply because of the snowy part of the distant mountain right behind the bird.  Perfect composition!

Thank you Armando and John. John, you Frank and Akira have given me something to think about regarding vignetting in photos without people.  Sometimes it feels like the default lens correction in ACR is too much.  My gut reaction to this one is if I want to have some vignetting it should be a little less than the amount introduced by the 70-300 on its own.
