I am very pleased with this lens especially considering the price. It has opened up a whole new world of photographic interest for me. All images shot using the lens with the D7100. The image stabilization is superb with 500mm being usable down to 200th Sec. Photos taken at the Harold Porter Botanical Gardens near Cape Town

Apparently the new lens delivers excellent results. Sharpness appears impeccable and bokeh impression is nice too. Congratulations of your new plaything :D and do keep showing us the outcome.

Beautiful birds. That lens is clearly going to be a safari star.
-
The lens truly sings in your hands just like a Cape Sugarbird :)
-
Thanks Jakov. Interestingly I have not had any issues with lens flare which some raised as a possible concern. You are probably always looking for trouble if you are going to shoot straight into the sun.
-
Very nice pictures and I totally agree with you when it comes to value for money. Its also very versatile, and as your pictures clearly show, very sharp. Opens up a new world to a lot of photographers.

Nice clean crisp images indeed - Yes value for money!

Great images Richie
now you see why I prefer Overberg to West Coast :)
I concur with Richie Rich - that lens is seriously cool

Very nice indeed.
Another set to encourage towards that lens :)
It's just me, or some exibit a little of front focus?

Wonderful colors and graphics. Some of these seem to be "angry birds" ... love the expressiveness.

Like every lens I own, including prime lenses, it was necessary to fine tune (calibrate) this lens with each camera body. I have fine tuned the focus on subjects about 10m away but I suspect that being a zoom it will stray from this point with subjects that are substantially closer of further away as well as at different focal lengths. I am still testing this .....

Nice shots, thanks for posting. This confirms my own (and those of many others) impressions of this lens.
-
Stunning Richard!

Nice photos, very nice. I, too, am enjoying the 200-500 for birds.

Very interesting birds and shoots...
