Title: Fairfield, Lake District
Post by: simato73 on February 15, 2016, 22:21:01
Training for Scotland :)
Quality of mountains and photos are no match with the Highlands as masterfully pictured by Dave, but I do what I can...

Nice pictures, Simone.

I especially liked the second one; nice light and main focus on the foreground, and nice composition.

The second could pull me out for a hike. Great composition and nature.
The first is giving a nice overview, like it as well.
I appreciate that you show the last one, as I consider this a tough desision I usually loose against myself.
I'm hesitating to show any of my captures taken under such lighting conditions.
Shooting numbers of them nontheless, they tend to get better and end up in the pile for progressive manual post processing (this is ever growing).

Nice series, thanks for showing!

Thank you both Frode and Thomas.

The best light for photographs was early on and the first two photos show it.

I agree the rest of the bunch middle-of-the-road at best.
I included the third more than anything else to show how crazy some people can be. That was on top of Fairfield, after a long steep trek up, a good part in the snow.
And some people went up on a bike!

The last I also feel ambivalent about. These scenes are always so striking when you see them, but the lighting is very difficult and most photograph end up failing, like this one.

Thank you Børge, Jakov, Frank and Erik.

I saw again the crazy cyclists down at the village, where they were washing their bikes with a hose, but did not talk with them.

The Lake District is a lovely place. Not as wild and awesome as the Highlands, but nonetheless scenic, and more genteel and accessible.

Simone, what a super set, but they do make me a bit chilly!

Simone, what a super set, but they do make me a bit chilly!

It was a couple of degrees below freezing on top, with a few extra degrees of windchill.
Not warm but nothing special; I had normal hiking trousers, a fleece and a light windshell.
The down jacket stayed unused in the pack all day.

I even saw a couple of fell runners in trainers and shorts!
