I'm a non-professional photographer in the Bay Area.
My passion is wildlife & nature photography.
Got into photography with a Nikon FE in the early 80's while I lived in Norway.
My favorite places to photograph is the Pacific Northwest and Northern California,
including the wilds of the Bay Area.
Like the Great Bear if the North, my name is also Bjørn.
Really enjoying this site with more knowledge sharing than anywhere else I've seen.

Hi Bjørn, I sometimes yearn for the northern coast of California. I always escaped L.A. by heading for the eastern slope of the Sierras or heading north. I'm not sure if changing the 'Fierce' to 'Great' is a promotion or demotion in the Bear ranks ;) . I sort of think of the Great Bear being up in the Heavens ;D . I guess we'll find out which is preferred :)
Welcome to the site.

Yeah, a typo on that one :-)
Eastern Sierra is fantastic in the fall - great fall colors with the aspen groves.

It's 'fierce' not 'great' ....
By the way, welcome namesake.
Acquaint us with images of your own making.

Greetings and welcome, from an old San Mateo County boy! FE in Norway? I rocked Finmark with my Nikomat Ft-2 about the same time. (Norway had the good sense to keep me out... Something about my reputation preceding me, I guess. Ironic since their govt. invited me. Pity, poor Sweden. I was their favorite idiot!)

Damn, you're about the 20th person on this site named Bjørn. There are times I think that should be the name of this forum and being named Bjørn the only criterium required for acceptance in the club. In any event, welcome to the forum. If you're ever venture to the south and looking for some photographic adventure, pm me.

My keyboard doesn't even have a ø letter.

My keyboard doesn't even have a ø letter.
:D
-
@ Gary : type Alt+0248 ;)
Correction made.
-
AltGr + 0248 (windows)
Or failing that select the 'ø' in any suitable signature, controlC to copy, controlV to paste.
Or even better, have these extra letters on your keyboard :D :D
-
Oops ! yes Alt, not Ctrl ... ::)
-
Actually Alt + Control == AltGr
-
On a mac it is very easy: option+o = øøøøøøøø
(letter of the alphabet o that is)
Or shift+option+o = ØØØØØØØØØØØØØØØØØØØ
-
Thank you all ... I need all the help I can get.
-
Welcome aboard, Bjørn.
Actually Alt + Control == AltGr
Well, I simply copy&paste "Bjørn" and delete Bjrn. :P
-
Thanks!
I tend to write my name with an 'o', to make it easier on the keyboards :-)

Welcome, Bjørn! I'm in the same general area. The Eastern Sierra is my favorite place to photograph, especially in fall and winter.
As for the "ø" character, I can't seem to produce it using the method suggested here. I've just been copying and pasting over the years, though it's possible I may have forgotten once or twice and mindlessly substituted an "o" in someone's name.
A higher priority for me than a Scandinavian keyboard, or a Spanish one (with the ñ character and accent marks), is one just like the one on my laptop, with the page up and page down keys side-by-side to allow easy toggling instead of being stacked. This is much more convenient- human fingers are side-by-side, not arranged vertically!

Welcome Bjørn. My name includes 'ø' as well, but writing in english I often replace it with 'o' or 'oe'.

Hello Bjørn! You live in a wonderful place. I used to live there also way back when the Candlestick Park was the home for Jerry Rice and Steve Young ;D (I won't go into further details). I actually lived about 30 min south of S.F. in Half Moon Bay. Lovely people, lovely scenics. Welcome to NG.

Welcome to NG Bjørn #12 😉

I'm also in the bay area!
Newark right now. Originally from the UK. Busy in life, especially at work, but enjoying the light here. Welcome to the forum, perhaps there is a beer or two in our future.
