Hello Dan! Welcome to NG. BTW: What's your ladder or engine? Just curious. And what happened in LIC a couple of nights back? Votive candles? A short?

Being a fireman is something I wanted to do ever since I was a little kid. Reading the newspaper and such as a kid, I would see photos in the paper, Firefighter magazines...And said to myself, thats a great way to learn little things about the job. So I received a camera as a present 24 years ago. And now 13 years into being a fireman, I am still in to fire photography. Here is something I shot Easter Sunday in 1998 in Lower Manhattan.
@Wannabebetter---Not sure what happened in LIC the other day..Witnesses said there was some kind of explosion. I am assigned to Engine 75 in the Bronx.

Welcome to the forum Dan. When I was working news, I loved fires. Especially those large brush fired when the Red Cross fires up their catering trucks and deliveries doughnuts to the jobsite.

Welcome to Nikongear, Dan. Do make a dedicated thread where you can showcase these photos. The photos posted in Introduction threads tend to be buried and hence "invisible" over time.

Most definitely, what Bjørn said! Your images are strong and honest, and clearly there is interest in the subject matter.  And Dan, thanks for the follow up. "Explosion"!? Roger, that. Stay safe!
