BR, the road is a hiking trail between 1 and 2 meters across. It looks like a thread in the vast space. They say it takes 11 hours to start at the top and hike down. You have to leave your car part way down the mountain and hitchhike up to the 9600 foot level. The furthest I have ever been on the trail is about a 90 minute round trip. It feels like no progress at all. Park rangers do not give out mileage estimates for the hike, only expected hours of walking as the going is much more difficult than most would imagine. The volcano is dormant, it last erupted in the late 18th century.
