Title: Messing Around with Rodenstockography

My version of Rodenstockography features grit & grain, bent light, wheelies, ray-zaps and only the most minute slice of focus (if any....depends on if I feel like it).

Mini-LED holiday light shining through red, green & gold woven ribbon.
 
 D810 + Rodenstock XR-Heligon 50/.75 for 1/30" @ ISO-100
 This lens is unchipped so Exif incorrectly reports lens speed.

I love all your flares, blurs, and abstractions.
That last one looks like some sort of flower made up of light.
Makes me want to dust off my 42mm Rodenstock.

oh don't say that! you have your own vision and your results will be cool also.
These kinds of lenses are to have fun with and to experiment with and to play with.

besides which you should see the 200 really awful shots I made to get these few!!!! srsly.

Great stuff, Andrea.

Yes, the hit-miss rate with the Heligon's is very high, even working on tripods. A mm change in position can give the desired effect, or not...

The Heligons are the exception to the rule that a camera thrives best on a tripod. The way in which they portray the subject, a hand-held camera is a must.

Way, way, cool! I did some similar stuff in Montreal, but used my Leica (gasp!). It's really fun playing with lights that way.

I was trying to get one of the Heligon's just for fun but so far was outbid every time. :)

They aren't that hard to obtain and not necessarily expensive either. Just stay away from samples modified to have a camera mount and thereby getting a highly inflated price.

You should be able to secure one for less than 200$. Shipping in fact can be the most expensive component as they are heavy lenses.
