Impressive capture, as always.  The membrane (?) on the surface of the eye in the last image looks interesitng.  I should be very challenging to capture.

D810 with the 500/4VR from about 3m away.. heavily cropped as you can see..

This is great, but your data confuses me.  The VR500/4.0 was released this year.  You mean, the best this year?

the 500/4FL was released this year... the 500/4VR is the last model
