Photographing "music" isnt only about shooting a band (although thats probably the biggest part)
how about "other" things about music?
Think out of the box - try!!

The AFS 85/1.4 at work (and wide open), with my favourite cellist. Her face might have delighted Pierre Puvis de Chavanne ; unfortunately, the lighting did not allow to imitate that painter.

A good musical instrument wants to be played...

5-strung... viola pomposa ?
-
5-strung... viola pomposa ?
This is a violoncello da spalla. Bach's unaccompanied cello suites were allegedly composed for this then-popular instrument. This particular one is a reproduction and build as 4- and 5-strung comvertible. A 5-strung instrument is needed to play the suite No. 6.

Interesting themed topic. Your starting image is very intriguing Elsa.
Andreas and I think alike :)
That's a beautiful shot Jakov. True keeper!

There's music everywhere!
-
I can always bank on you guys coming to the party.
Fons - see - you can think out of the box. your guitar proves it :) And I like the 3rd image you posted also. The character of the old man suits, and I wonder about that bicycle in the back :)
Jakov & Andreas - thats often the first kid of shots I take too - great minds and all that stuff
Akira - interesting about the 5 string!
Anirbar - that is a really clever image ;D

Thank you Jakov. Thanks Elsa.
Fons - #17 is beautiful. Where was it?
-
@PeterN : if it were in France, and not knowing the scale, but knowing it is very loud, I'd say a (garden) warbler.

Thanks, Andrea. The lighting was a bit tricky and my shooting posision was limited. The camera worked better than I had expected. :)

Sorry, Fons, this is Shami-sen, a Japanese three-string banjo.

A music event from a very cold winter evening on the day of the year when we celebrate the light (missa candelaraum) in our town.
A portable carillon was playing beautiful music while the old building (Academia Sorana) was used as a canvas to display a series of colorful images. A lot of people resisted the cold and enjoyed the show.
-
Team work ..
-
Lars - those are beautiful photos. I'm sure it was very rewarding for those who braved the cold.

Thanks Anirban! It was a special evening.

Fons, your #64 is great, out of this world!
Thomas, the first one in your #69 is great too, it kinda conveys a pub feeling (i understand it was a wedding reception).
-
thank you Hans

Thank you, I believe 'pub feeling' describes that late phase of the reception well. It had less of the usual sweatiness and density of small pubs but the guests were dancing, the band playing...

Feelin' the music...You are deaf, you are nearly blind, your mate leads you to the side of the stage and places your hand on the speaker.
