Title: Belgrade Jazz Festival 2015
Post by: Jakov Minić on October 31, 2015, 14:53:04
It is my extreme pleasure to say that I was invited to take photos of the Belgrade Jazz Festival by my friends from www.jazzin.rs.
I arrive here on Thursday and I started clicking. It is extremely tiring but at the same time rewarding. Shooting 4 concerts a day is not something that I am used, let alone to go through and process all of the images in time for publication.
What I wanted to say, is that I am sorry I don't have enough time available to report as I am used to my dear NG community.
Perhaps when the festival is over and I am back home I can dedicate more time to share my experiences as images. For the time being feel free to visit www.jazzin.rs :)
I am also trying to write a small blog on www.jakov.nl but with the same time constraints...

Attached are just a few but loads more on my hard disc awaiting my appropriate and gentle attention :)

Great images Jakov. I'm not into jazz, but your images on the festival website are great and dare i say ... not all the usual concert pictures (i saw you snug in a few multi exposures)  :)

Also, great pics and story on your blog.

While i've never shot music festivals, i concur that shooting large events is both invigorating as well as tiring. And, depending on the delivery schedule you've agreed with your friends (client, customer, whatever), post processing can be too.

Thanks Hans!
My friend just told me that I can experiment and not make the usual "sterile" photos that are mostly made at concerts.
That put a smile on my face so of course I had to do some multiple exposures.
I envy those with an autofocus camera and 70-200 VR. I am torturing myself with the Df and 180/2.8 Ais :)
The Df is useless in low light with an autofocus lens!
I hope it's the camera, and I should meet up with Chris later this month to determine what's wrong, if anything. I can report that I am struggling to get anything in focus with the 85/1.4 AF-D. At least I am the most retro of all photographers, fully manual :)

Well, that's great, i can imagine the smile on your face. I'd like my friends that i shoot for sometimes would have the same attitude towards photography. But bwaahh, they don't  :(. Enough left to enjoy shooting though.

I am curious about the Cyrillic script ... is Russia's influence still extremely strong in Serbia?

Russia's influence in Serbia is as strong as in the rest of the world :)
The Cyrillic script is Greek, the Russians just use it as do Bulgarians too.
Unlike them, Serbs can use both Cyrillic and Latin scripts equally.

Hiromi

A wonderful girl!
So powerful and gentle at the same time!
A true virtuoso!

Jakov, if you keep on doing this you may find El President and yourself at many a (jazz) festival as the designated photog. Some great stuff there!

(EDITED for Jakov's name)

Jakov, you are so lucky to have seen Hiromi performing !

This little girl is like volcano, playing so fast, most of time jumping. She's indeed a virtuoso.

I am fan.

Thanks for the explanation ... I just automatically associate that script with Russia. I need to get off autopilot.

Hi Jakov, well done.
I'm sure it's been hard work, but will be a rewarding experience.

Your last picture is the visual equivalent of a "jazz" performance! ;)
