The overall image clarity is excellent. I assume this results from focus stacking and am curious as to how many images were required and what focus step size you sued.

Thank you Bjorn... i posted 275 images above..  The Mitutoyo M-PLan 2x objective has a DoF of 0.091mm so given the 12mm or so of bee (from memory) this represents almost 2x oversampling.. i probably could have gotten away with 130 images.... so my step size was probably half the DoF....

Added Note... I have found that oversampling helps reduce artifacts in the composite image. This image required very little retouching.. I normally use both Pmax and Dmap algorithms, setting the threshold on Dmap and retouching with Pmax.

That lens and camera combination appears to be  top-notch performer for sure. Also observe stacking software has greatly improved over the years, although some fine detail (bristles etc.) still might need the occasioal retouch later.

it gets much more difficult as the mag increases..

at 5x it is much easier

The first shot, with its side view and white background looks a bit too clean and documentary to me but the others tick all the marks.
