Sitting out a tropical(!) typhoon in a lovely little hotel in Lake Akan - an opportunity to process a few images of our trip to Hokkaido. It is not yet mid autumn, but snow has already fallen in the Daisetsuzan national park, closing some of the mountain hiking trails unfortunately.
First from a hike up to Furano-dake in the park, then a couple of late sunset images from Tokachidake Onsen, a village in the park.

Apologies, having difficulty in posting from here. Trying again....

What wonderful colors and beautiful garden like landscape
-
Thanks, Frank. It was an ordinary scene, turned into something magical by the setting sun.

Great stuff, Mike - magical is the word. And you are still knocking off the places on my bucket-list. ;D ;D
I spent a few days in Daisetsu NP in March '75 - a lifetime ago - it rained the whole time.

I really like the last image , fantastic contrast of the redish trees vs the unlit background
-
I love the last one, too. The white trunks and twigs are rendered beautifully under pleasant lightings. Well done, Mike! Hope you have stayed safe!

Thanks for your comments Dave, Armando and Akira.
Dave: The hazards remain. Snowfalls (and volcanic activity) shut down our planned hike up Tokachi-dake, a typhoon shut down our planned hike up Oakan-dake and a threatening volcanic eruption shut down our planned hike up Meakan-dake. Ahh well.
Akira: Thanks - all is well. Quite a lot of trees have been flattened, though.

In a way it is light only we are hunting as photographers.
