Part of an occasional series showing what members of the May 2016 event can expect to see. In this case, some very nice birch and oak woodland along the southern shores of Loch Tay and a couple of views of the loch from the south side.

Dave, I love the last two images. In addition to your obvious skill, you seem to have got a really good sample of 18-35 zoom.

Thanks, Akira - it is an excellent sample, much sharper than the 16-35 AFS VR I had before, but yesterday it took a really serious knock - serious enough to put a large dent in the barrel of the lens. Last night I ran some tests for focus accuracy, overall sharpness and possible skew, and it performed wonderfully - one might almost say, perfectly. And this is the lens which fell in the river with me, six months ago.

Thank you also, Mike, and that's a good joke about not needing an umbrella. It's Scotland you are coming to, remember? I will admit that September has been a wonderful month, with loads of sunshine and temperatures in the 17-23ºc range, perfect for outdoor activities.

Dave, glad to know your zoom seems to have survived the severe hit. I wonder if the 18-35 has proved to be shock- and water resistant?!
