Title: Wild reindeer (Rangifer tarandus) crossing the river

Somtimes I have luck being at the right place at the right time. When I also have the 400mm/5.6 ready on a tripod at that time, I get the picture I have dreamed about. The picture is from the river Kvenno at Hardangervidda national park.

Again, no sheep. Not all reindeer have antlers.

I trust you. My wife should know, she lived in Finnland for years, still speaks some Finnish and has shown me her "reindeer driver license"

Thanks all. I do not see where the sheeps came from, they are not in my picture. All the animals in the picture, are reindeers.

Most of the adult reindeer actually have antlers, but  the females have smaller antlers, so it is not easily seen in my picture. Even some of the calves had began growing antlers at this time (23. july), but that is just small studs.

Asle, my mistake completely.
They just looked like sheep when I first saw the image...
And now I am sorry that they aren't sheep, the photo would have had a greater impact  :)

What a brilliant moment Asle. But i suspect that you having the camera ready for this moment was not just pure luck. People who spend a lot of time out in nature develops a certain skill to read animal behavior. And knowing that such skills are involved just heigthens the image more!

And sheep? The mainland europeans must be used to a long legged kind with short brown hair. Or wait, was that women? Sheep? Anyone????

What a wonderful image Asle. I'm guessing you could get quite cold and wet waiting patiently for a scene like this to unfold, so your dedication and skill definitely paid off.

Sigh....if it's sheep you want, guess you'll need to set something similar up and find some wolves who can swim.....!
