Title: Nikkor 25-50 f4
Post by: eugeniogp on August 30, 2015, 04:06:08
I was looking for a wide angle zoom lens and after some digging I found some info on this lens.  I bought in eBay from a nice Japanese store.  I'be only shot it a couple of times but I am very happy with the results I am getting.  Shot with a Nikon D600,  some Vsco (Fuji something).

I came upon one of these locally, at a low price, so I bought it.
Thanks to it's relatively simple construction, I was able to re-lube the the focusing helicoid myself.
It's difficult to precisely focus at f/4(using a stock D800), but I've recently been amazed at the detail it produced in this shot at f/11;  focal length uncertain, 40mm or maybe 35mm(I tend to stick to the marked FLs until I learn a new lens.)

I have this lens and have personally found it to perform very well.  Whilst not quite up to my 24-70mm f/2.8 (Mk 1 version), it only cost me about 10% of the latter lens, so it represents great value in the instance of  a good 2nd hand copy.

FWIW Bjørn Rørslett has also commented favourably on the 25-50mm lens on other sites.
