A fairly easy lens to service. Surprisingly sharp wide open in the near range and running my 28mm f/2.8 AIS very close!

I still got this lens, my second nikon lens after 50 mm 1.8 , early 80’s
It was lower priced than the 2.8 version so it was preferred 8)
I did some testing with the f 2.8 on BW film these days and found no difference -as you already mentioned-the same excellent Nikon contrast :)
Now days I’ve got 28/2.8 z lens but used only once
