Title: A Merry Christmas in Cape Town
Post by: Gil Aegerter on December 26, 2025, 14:33:18
My wife retired at the end of the last school year, giving her the opportunity to finally spend a good chunk of time in Cape Town, where she went to college. We have spent the past few weeks catching up with old friends and really seeing the city. Our childten have spent the first part of our trip with us but will soon be returning to the states while we stay on. A few images from the trip so far, including Ballito, where all the U.S., UK and SAF cousins were together for the first time ever, and from the Drakensberg, where Lins and I reprised part of our honeymoon nearly 40 years ago.

The first one looks spectacular and the last one is a neat color composition.

No, those are in Eswatini. These are the Inner Horn and Outer Horn, seen just to the left of Cathedral Peak. The sun is peeking through to the right of Cleft Peak on the Lesotho border -- it's actually higher than Cathedral.

Thanks Gil, my memories of weekend trips out of Durban are becoming a little vague after nearly five decades.

Thank you, everyone. Our children have now flown home while we stay on in Cape Town for a few more weeks. We've seen a lot in just two weeks already.

1. Horses on Nordhoek beach. Nikkor 55-200mm
2. Kite-boarder at Bloubergstrand. Nikkor AFP 70-300mm
3. Flowers in the mist on Table Mountain. Nikkor 18-55mm
4. Dalebrook tdal pool at Kalk Bay. Nikkor AF-P 70-300mm
All with a Nikon D5300.
