Title: some kind of collared dove...
Post by: Airy on October 29, 2025, 17:02:50
... used to visit my rabbit (they shared some food) and, with my rabbit gone, trained me into feeding them every morning at breakfast. Initially they just observed my re-supplying the bird table; now they call me, using the imperative. Well, their call is so ugly it must be an imperative.

Then they use to digest the food on the spot, providing me with an opportunity to play with my cameras. These pics were shot through the window; next time I'll try opening it (if done slowly, they won't fly away).

Concerning the species, I suspect these are Eurasian collared doves (Streptopelia decaocto), not sure though.

Both photos shot with the 300/4 PF mounted on a Zf @ f/5.6 and 900 ISO, and on a Zfc @ f/8 and 5600 ISO.

Just checked - the song and the screeching are unmistakably those of a Eurasian collared dove.
