Title: Drawing lenses :)
Post by: Zang on June 05, 2025, 03:39:32
Hi all,

I joined this community when I started working on my first lens. Since then, I’ve completed nearly 200 lenses - some models multiple times. Until now, I never kept notes that were useful to anyone else, and honestly, I often can't make sense of my own notes after a while :)

Lately, I’ve been thinking it might be cool to start documenting my work properly. I’ve started by sketching the lens elements and numbering them in the disassembly order.

Let me share my latest project: the Topcor 3.5cm f/2.8.
I’ve done a bit more drawing for some of my lenses, and I'll share those later as well.

Cheers,
Zang

That should help a lot for sure.  The drawing is amazingly neat, too.

Thanks Akira!

I have realized tall photos do not display well on this site. I might find a photo-sharing service to save my works.

Cheers,
Zang

Even though the tall photo doesn't fit the horizontal displays, the exploded diagram appears to be the most appropriate for this particular purpose.

I was thinking, with some photo sharing services, we can zoom in the photos. On this site, the best we can do is hitting Ctrl+ :)

Zang

Just right-click the image, open in new tab and click to get full size to display all the neat details at better viewing size, and it is also scrollable/zoomable.

Viewed on my tablet, i can see the whole drawing on my screen (then zoom in if i want)

Can you share any images produced with your lenses Zang?

Excellent drawings Zang! You could try "exploding" the lens horizontally, it would fit better on the screen without needing to zoom in further. Keep up the good work!

That is ambitious  ;D
Drawing is perfectly displayed on an iPhone.
