Just a heads up: it looks like electricity is out in the whole Spain, Portugal and a parts of sought France. For sure here in Cadiz. Heading to work in a while to see how are we doing there.
Do you guys, specially europeans, have any blackout time?

If Europe continues down the "Smart Grid Path" but builds the parts of the grid so unevenly, load balancing will fail more often and the strategic vulnarability of the network will rise sharply. I am really troubled and concerned about this development.

CORRECTION: The article states that all this is "world first" but it is not. It has been done in Oak Ridge for decades before Carter or Clinton shut the thing down.

Frank, it is so hard to believe that the Thorium cycle reactor technology hasn't been pushed much much harder before now. I guess that the oil lobby is still omni-powerful and that too many of its former executives find their way into the worlds parliaments and governments for my likeing.
Kudos to the Chinese if they are first to market with the thorium reactors - goodness knows how long it will take to get fusion reactors ready for market, so we need bridging technologies ASAP.
