Title: Zf focus distance indicator

Trying Nikon's 35mm f/1.8S lens on my Zf and setting the switch on the lens to manual focus, I am "rewarded" with a crude focus distance indicator in the viewfinder. Is there a way to turn it off? The online reference guide is no help.
