Birna has arrived, the game is on :)
In a couple of hours I managed to destroy Birna's hands, hair, nail polish and stockings. The rayxar 50/0.75 is not behaving as intended
-
That's pink allright! ;) Happy weekend!
-
lovely wild portrait
-
seems like Barber of Seville sent a trainee to attend your session ;D
Have fun
-
I initially had a more straight-forward view to what 'Spanish' entails. However, that of course was before I met up with Paco :)
Airport architecture, Madrid.

The Spanish sun is searingly hot.

Nice day today. Even if it is cold (15 celsius ;D ) people are enjoying the wind and the beach, some 200 mts from my place this year.
Z6, 400mm 4.5
-
That 400mm is a marvel. Light, sharp, lovely
Botanic colors
-
The 400mm 4.5 This was taken thinking about Akira. I hope you like it :)
-
They say the Z6 cannot do bif. This one looks in disbelief that we even try.

No snow here 8)

Lots of experimentation, very nice
-
Beautifull, Great stuff. Have fun there !!

End of the day, we spend time with friends and friends of friends we met today at the theater for "Die schöne Müllerin", some drinks and fried fish in a very popular place in Cádiz.

I'm enjoying this abstract result of the MNM (short for Micro NG Meeting). Also, I wonder if this master piece by Franz Schubert is performed as an authentic style of das deutsche Lied or as a flamenco version of it.
-
To answer your question, Akira, I can post this snapshot of the performance,
-
Sunset bridge. Yes, the bridge again. We cross it ever so often. You will notice Paco singing 'Bridge over troubled waters' every time :)
Viltrox 75mm f/1.2 on Z9.

Blue people. Smurf influence ?
Viltrox 75mm f/1.2 on Z9. A lovely combination and the DX-sized files are a bonus as well when the big 45MPix ones are overkill.

Paco has built-in capabilities :)

Today we went to Faro de Trafalgar, a place I really like. Beautiful nature and history clash.

We cross paths with some locals and a few tourist, people walking, running, swimming and generally enjoying themselves

the walking ones. We had shadow and sunlight. The weather forecast predicted a little bit of rain but we were out to eat before it happens
-
Lots of kids running in the dunes.

Hard at work. This is what you get for pestering the photographer.

There is an "eco trail" running all the way from Conil de la Frontera to Barbate, a fisherman´s town famous for its tunna that was our original destination...but never got there.
-
My botanic prowess ;D is very limited. but from this very same image, the page https://identify.plantnet.org/es got it right in one second.
-
Random day graphics.
-
To round it up: the wind is given Birna´s hair a hard time. It is windy, nothing to do about that....to show it:
The dancing tree.
-
To answer your question, Akira, I can post this snapshot of the performance,
Thank you, Birna. Obviously, the concert was in the genuine style!
-
Great pictures Paco & Birna :D

Superb image, colour & reminders of being in the waves
I want to be back there Paco!
-
As this was not taken by a Nikkor, I have no idea as to the answer of the question in the title.
-
We finally won The Flamingo Race.
-
I x-rayed Paco and, not expectedly, found '13' inside :)
-
So we went today for an errand and in turns out it was not only 13 km away from home, but we have to take the exit 13...
-
At the end of the day, urban storks were seen :)
-
This was right under the storks nest. It is in the facade of the basilica in El Puerto de Santa María.
-
I'm afraid we are going backwards. The day started with some supplies. My cousin Cuco joined the party. The 9mm lets you see his feet on the left
-
This was taken under Birna's directions. Thanks!
Z6, 9mm 5.6 "bridge dreamer" Laowa lens
-
More backwards processing produced this hackneyed 'Sunset Bridge'. Yes, that bridge -- again.
-
As you can see, this days has seen extremes: from 560mm to 9 with some infrared throw in. Here, a RGB in nikongear manner.
-
A very similar image than the one from Birna, but in visible spectrum and trying to emulate film colors.
Z9 (I should not have try it...) and 400 4.5 with 1.4 teleconverter.

We finally won The Flamingo Race.
Very nice shape echoes in the placements of the flamingos, street lamps and clouds!
Its really exciting to see Birna and Paco inspiring each otherr!
-
Superb image, colour & reminders of being in the waves
I want to be back there Paco!
Great pictures Paco & Birna :D
Thank you both. As you know this meetings get the creativity flowing :) Let's get together!

Barbatean Reptiles Park.
Interesting views.
-
Before we arrived at Barbate and the Reptile Park at its harbour, we crossed over hills with beautifully developed pine forests.
-
Lots of seasonal workers -- unemployed fishermen? -- working at the Barbatean Reptile Park.
-
More from the enchanting pine forest.
-
Barbate port. Z7 50mm 1.8.
-
At one point Paco had to shift down to first gear in order to navigate a modestly steep road with the VW now devoid of its turbo diesel booster-- we were joking a bus should be our next option :)
-
Barbate port. The anchor man. Z7 50mm 1.8

Birna down the stairs, flowing red gorgeous hair

The IR fun continues. I spend many hours of my childhood in this very beach.

The trail in post #28 is actually this one. You can see the fence for the parking near the pines, the trail (green) and the protection against the cars. There you go. In case your car can´t make it up the hill ;D 8)

Meet Patri and Bali, gracious hosts for today. Thank you!

Thank you Timothy. They make a lovely lively couple in real life. I´m happy some of that comes through :)

What an explosion in creativity, you must keep them coming.
Looks like you have a great time.

Casares, one of the 'white towns', panorama stitched from 24 frames by Nikkor 105mm f/2.5 AI on the Zf. The completed file could easily be printed in mural size many metres wide.

If you have a big lens -- do show it :)

Andalusian Day. Watchful eyes followed the event.

The street shooter

Such things as depicted below happen on every NG meet-up whether macro or micro :)
-
Different shooting styles.
Artralab Nonikkor 35mm f/1.4, Nikon Zf.
-
Today´s MNM was not so ¨micro¨, as we were joined by another two NG members: Cgoss and Cuco de Frutos. We all happen to be first degree cousins so it was an easy call ;D
It started in one of the white towns in the south of Spain: Casares. Specifically in the "mirador" at the top
-
From that point you can see both the houses perched in the side of the mountain but also, farther away, the south of Europe meeting the north of Africa. Two continents and three countries: Spain, UK and Marocco

Today, 28th of february, is the Day of Andalucía. The whole region was on holiday, flags, anthem and gatherings, even if the musician looks like more that 50% forbidden ;D
-
This town was very well taken care of, interesting and peculiar. People was friendly. One of them invite us to his table on the town square. Beautiful day.
Meet the cousins
-
Alas, a very colorful day with great company and a gracious couple as hosts. We even had time to go to Cuco´s studio and showroom were Birna admired the prints and mix-media he so expertly creates.

I love them! Great shots!
-
Paco and I spent the first part of the day crossing over the Rio Grande (or Rio Pedro?) to go to a wetland area on the other side of the river. I never got there, however, as I was occupied with trying to match crossing trains chased by cars of different colours. It was a long and strenuous affair before I got my images like I had envisioned them.
Barbie racing the train to Cádiz. Voigtländer 58mm f/.4 on my Zf.
-
Yes, we were going to the Toruños natural reserve but it was so interesting the 200 meters from the car to there...we never made it. Again ;D
A little something in the middle of the way
-
The vehicles...
The Z9 is crazy responsive by the way, don't try it...
-
As close as we got but to be fair, the first bridge was closed
-
One more of the big things about getting together is being able to try new gear. Exploring the 400 4.5
-
As close as we got but to be fair, the first bridge was closed
The second image should pair nicely with the second one of the post #90! Love them!
-
After the morning excursion towards the Wetland preserve, we spent some enjoyable hours in Paco's school for dancing lessons :) (not me, of course). On the return back to Paco's apartment, I convinced him to do the seven sins of photography (according to some well-known (sic) photographer) by circling over and over again the central roundabout of Valdelargrana, which is decorated by a huge monument as a homage to the local speciality of 'los salineros', the salt workers. The artwork is by Juan Gallardo and is quite photogenic in particular at night. When we had counted a sufficient number of sins, some more were added for good measure and the following photo emerged. The manly profile is of course of Paco, the designated driver.
Paco's lovely 58mm f/1.4 Nikkor ('Neo-Noct') on the full-spectrum Nikon Z5.
-
Thank you Akira. It has been said but hasn't happened yet, we should meet at some point ;)

I wonder what's going on here....
D80 IR "Lola" still behaving temperamentally. We found a way to make her confortable :)

What I saw shooting the 'fishing pole'.
-
Ah, thanks :)
-
I just got inside info that there are 13 subfamilies in the asteraceae to which this one belongs. That is the perfect amount.

I hope you will indulge a few images from yesterday's class.

Uhhh ... I envy you ... yet ... I will be in Tarifa from 23rd till 30th of March and if my daughter permits we will drop by and meet you Paco and Olga
-
Again, we tried to get to the Nature Preserve across the Rio San Pedro, but failed. Two hundred meters of walking provides for so many opportunities of photographic exploration.
To wit, Paco sees an abandoned dwelling and dances himself into the scene. That's the way it goes with over-confidence :)

Hi Frank,
a couple of things: it is the big week off for us teachers so I will be up north for a few days. Then I´ll come back and of course go to meet you both in Tarifa. I have your number :)
See you soon!

Later, it was my turn -- my computer and the stitching software PtGui played a bad trick on me. I have not the slightest idea of what happened here, but sort of like the end result. So be it.
I can always put the blame on Paco's old Nikkor 80-200 ?
-
How many photo sins can you commit in one image? Here at least 7: not in focus, wrong colors, no face in the subject, busy background, unbalanced, object in the corner, not clear motive...may be more! ;D

Floating stars
-
I do not encourage leaving garbage around but it helped with this composition.
Pink plastic chair.
-
As you can see, today was the day to take the 55mm 3.5 for a spin.
-
And the 135 2.8 ais. We got so close today...almost made it across the bridge and into the park
-
Birna showing the colorful "puccinia malvacearum"
-
And now pointing out a crane´s bill. Many special structures going around.

It will most likely happen my friend. I'll keep you posted

Yes, beautiful !!

I had the pleasure of meeting up with two of my cousins and meeting Birna for the first time earlier this week. This is a photo I took whilst with them in Casares.

Thank you for sharing prima!

Yes, beautiful !!
Thank you John, I hope you guys are enjoying the shared trip.

Plaza de España, Seville. Gazillions of tourists swarming everywhere. Not really my thing, but I tag along with Paco nonetheless.
-
In Seville, tourists are really not difficult to identify :)
-
Staircase dancer, Las Setas, Seville.
-
Paco, the ice cream lover :) the ice creams in that shop really were exquisite.
-
Nightmare in Seville? The city does live for and from turism, no surprise there. Even thou, I find this monument worth visiting and Birna has been a trouper from day one.
-
The tourist shot and what happens if you keep shooting ultra wide ;D
Plaza de España, Seville

Moving on to "La Seta" we were greeted by this heartwarming couple.

A view from were we ate
Always the trouper, even in the face of those jaws

Queuing up for the 'Aseos' is a test of stamina and perseverance in this humongous hive of tourists :)
-
Thank you John, I hope you guys are enjoying the shared trip.
We do!

It will most likely happen my friend. I'll keep you posted
You know I love you and will welcome you whenever possible!!!

Staircase dancer, Las Setas, Seville.
I love to dance on staircases ... escalators,;;; I'd love to escalate dancing. You really should see me dancing now. Elena & Olga got me hooked on Impro Dance last year...
-
Paco, the ice cream lover :) the ice creams in that shop really were exquisite.
Paco enjoys ice cream but I feel you went a tad too soft on his face with your filter, Birna
-
Lovely!
Thank you Fons!

Blame the IR, Frank. Makes porcelaine-like skin .....

We went to the cinema to see the premier of "Dune part two" Birna point to a row to sit (look at the ticket ) and this is where we parked (creative photo) ;D
Just saying ...

Birna pioneered in yet another field of photography by "pedipulating" the image! ;D ;D ;D
-
Whatever it takes to get the intended result, Akira :)
Just look at Paco's contortions here .....
-
Oleee ;D
-
It darkened rapidly and we even got a blue moon palm -- if my camera is to believed. Or not. It lies routinely, sorry to say.

Wonderful, really crazy 8)

Once in a while I saw my Z9 during my stay here in Spain, usually when Paco asked me to recharge the battery. That didn't happen frequently as he was able to wring out an amazing number of shots -- unlike me, again as usual, as I have never managed more than say 250 from the Z9 and he did accomplish many times that figure. Must be something like Spanish wizardry involved.
However, when I actually did see the camera, I noticed that the Smallrig L-bracket and the Laowa 11mm lens both reflected IR quite strongly. The latter was surprising as I have used the 11mm lens for IR shooting many times and never noticed an issue, but perhaps I ought to put the IR filter behind instead of in front of the lens hereafter??

I'm pretty sure that Paco is using the "rasqueado" technique to operate the shutter button.
-
IR can give unexpected results -- in this case, I got a selfie when shooting two kids trying to coax money from the ATM.
-
Today, some surprise, out of all the high tech in the gerar, the infrared filter was set inside the lens with a couple of drops of blue tack...and it worked ;D
-
We went to the park, again, trying to get in from another door but still, no crossing of the river. Today was raining so that´s the excuse. A little tour of an exhibition and installation with information about the park, the beach and the salinas around us, with some historical evolution throw in. This will be the plant of the day "Aristolochia baetica"
-
And just like that, I'm going to miss this color around!
If you haven't got the chance to go to a NG meeting, do so. If you have, you know ;)
