No Fons, I just help to keep winemakers employed ;) :) This vine is one of the few that remain in our garden.

I was reminded of the classic 'Sheep in Scotland' story and made the following hip shot en route to my museum task ... (to get the original, substitute 'black sheep' and 'Scotland for 'red-haired female' and 'Norway', respectively).
A mathematician, a physicist, and an engineer are riding a train through Norway
The engineer looks out the window, sees a red-haired female, and exclaims, "Hey! They've got red-haired females in Norway!"
The physicist looks out the window and corrects the engineer, "Strictly speaking, all we know is that there's at least one red-haired female in Norway."
The mathematician looks out the window and corrects the physicist, " Strictly speaking, all we know is that at least one side of one female is red-haired in Norway."
Very dry humour which suits my current work situation :)

Strictly speaking, all we know is that at least one side of one female and all sides of another female are red-haired in Norway. ;D
Seriously speaking, I love Birna's hipshot; perfect timing, geometry and color composition!

Today´s picture was also taken at the end of august. I´m in the process of moving to my new place, not far from where I did last year but even closer to the beach.
This image is the end of the visit to a museum dedicated to Ortega Bru, a well known artist from the city of San Roque. The little one in the picture, was very interested in the process of image making and really enjoyed doing a few himself. "Have you taken a picture of picture of that?" Was his cue to actually ask "I´ll love to get the camera again and take a picture of that" ;D

I had a commission for a red listed aquatic plant down on the southern coast today, thus spent more time than I appreciate on trains. I found the species so can make my invoice, and on the return voyage whilst changing trains at Oslo Central station, I grabbed this shot of two young people lost in their own world, oblivious to their surrounding apparently.
The new Viltrox 75mm f/1.2 is an excellent performer optically speaking. Only wish they had designed the lens hood with a better and more secure fit. Now I have to modify it like Erik 'Dr. Lens' taught me in conjunction with Zoom-Nikkors of the past (in particular the 17-35 & 28-70).

Heat wave and drought here in southern Oklahoma U.S.. The average daily high in August was 39.5° (103°F), rainfall in the past 30 days less than 0.8 cm.
I've shown a small part of a grove of post oaks (Quercus stellata) where it is considerably cooler during the afternoon hours.

Hello Fons,
The Wikipedia article you have linked to gives a good description of this specis when growing as a solitary, in widely spaced company, or near other small trees such as Ulmus alata (Winged elm).
This tree is also commonly found in growing in proximity to other members of its' specis, or occasionally mixed with other mid sized trees such as Quercus palustris (Pin oak), Carya tomentosa (White hickory), or Fraxinus americana (White ash). In this sort of grouping the trunk of a mature tree will rise 7-10 meters before branching to form the crown. Situated thus, the height is often 17-20 meters in the northern and central portions of the range.

Thank you Birna. Oh yes I have used a small flash (Meike 320) with DIY diffuser for taking the bee shots. I got interested in stalking bees mainly in the backyard, especially native & solitary bees thanks to the lockdown 8). It got me into gardening as well - to attract more bees.

As a side effect of my current work at the Botanical Museum of Natural history, University of Oslo, I come across rarities and even "time capsules". The oldest specimens I have examined in the herbarium is from the early 17th Century and when time marches on, from the 1830's onwards there are massive collections available for scrutiny. Today, I worked with a specimen collected around 1860, and came across an attached, but yet unopened, letter on the herbarium sheet. The text, written in a clear and concise hand, was from the Swedish Pastor J.O.Hagström, a widely recognised expert on the genus Potamogeton, and outlined his comments on that very specimen. He claimed it matched an exceeding rare triple hybrid that at the time only was known from a single station world wide. As natural triple hybrids are so rare among plants, this taxon has recently attracted research interest using molecular genetics. The real existence of the triple hybrid has been verified by the modern methods, but no other locality has come up. That is, until the forgotten letter, unread and ignored for 107 years, came to light. I read his very precise remarks and confirmed the existence of the described features on the specimen seen in the background. Thus, now the taxon has increased its world wide distribution 100% :) :). I also got a first-hand impression of the working mindset of a scholar who unfortunately died shortly after this letter was written. I returned home today with a lot of food for thoughts.
-

I think the image is framed nicely. You may want to include some very common and familiar elements like human beings in the frame to convey the enormous size of anything in general.

The reason(s) why I'm not as active as before on NG :)
The revision work at the Botanical Museum of Natural History, Oslo University, fills much of my time, thus little free time left. I'm currently at 40% of the total amount of specimens to examine. So expect to keep soldiering on for quite some time yet. Oh well.
My daily working place, with labels;
A: specimens needing further close examination, possibly involving microscopy of morphological features or pollen;
B: specimens currently waiting for examination;
C: specimens examined and verified, no further action is required;
D: specimens re-identified, new labels should be written and the finished specimen re-inserted at a new position in the herbarium collections;
E: one of many text-books to consult with;
F: Leica stereo binocular loupe, 6.3-40X magnification available
Not shown is Birna's stamina. I shall prevail.
