First time ever I had a spoonbill on my lawn.
(I live on water's edge)
D800 & 300 f4
real grab shots these
-
Elsa, did you call it names ? he has a surprised expression on #1 and the exorcist neck twist
did you have a carcass in the past ? why the clarification on a live one ? Ron's leftovers ? :)
#1 is great
I have only seen them fly by in the distance , so this species remains in the list of birds I'll like to shoot
-
Great clarity. #1 is my fav, but a bit of burning in on the left side shoulder and back would be helpful. I think your front lawn could use a bit of draining.
-
Lucky you!
I can only shoot seagulls going through the trash in my street ::)
-
.
Well done shot !
# 1 is my fav too.
It shows human expression ! It looks like worry and sorry to be here. :)
Not to many mosquitoes coming in your home ?
-
Armando - sorry i mean I live on water's edge :)
this one wasnt even skittish - I could get quite close
Gary - haha - thanks for the tip - here is a pic of my yard :)
Rosko - thanks for the comment - our water is 25% salt - so no mozzies thankfully
-
Super Spoonbill, and what a beautiful place you live!
Which version of the 300mm did you use?
-
Very nice garden visitor Elsa! Well done on getting that close.
-
very nice spoonbill!... wish they were around where i am... interesting bird to photograph.
-
Thanks Bob - well you know where to find some :)

the 300 f4 - not the latest version as far as I know. Nikon had a huge 50% off sale, so I picked it up for about $9000 or thereabouts
-
Elsa, $9000 dollars seems an awful lot for a half price offer? Do you really mean $9000 or $900?
Even my 300Pf cost the equivalent of $2561 or £1639!
I reckon the Spoonbill looks a bit like a bird designed by a committee!
-
oh ja oops :)
Actually $850
-
That's a very nice lens Elsa, I have one too.
I inherited mine from my dad, who bought it second-hand for more than you paid for yours...
-
Peter - I am still very new to this lens - and having a 300 prime takes some getting used to - considering my longest was a 70-200 zoom. New mindset, but I think it will be good - especially might be helpful on my crop sensor camera -
And ye - price was good- couldnt pass on that one (obviously women are suckers for bargains)
-
Yep $850 seems to be a lot more reasonable. Women, shopping, bargains heavens to Betsy. ;D
-
Not inviting a bath. Great it does not breed inseccts!

I will have you know - there are MEN on this forum who buy bargain gear much more than me :P :P
-
Elsa, I really like that first image :) The "on my lawn " caught my attention....no grass to mow ;) . I hope you had a great birthday :)

LOL thanks Tommie :)
so now you know where to come visit !
