Compliments of the season Richard.
An interesting read of how this old design checks out on a Z6.

Welcome back, Richard, and thanks for the headsup!

Thank you Richard.
If I remember rightly, the "cute panda from the East" is now the other side of the Pacific.
Hope winter hasn't been too extreme :)

Thanks for sharing this Richard, I owned this lens for many years, and started out with the original version that I converted to AI and then later I sold it and got the AIS version which had less flair and more contrast than original, but both were very sharp lenses. Eventually I got a 35 1.4 AIS lens for cheap And gave the 35F2 to my son which I had chipped with a dandelion. The 1.4 has many good points but I must admit I miss my F2 because in some respects the bokeh of the F2 is nicer for some subjects than the 1.4. The 14 is better for flare though, and it is definitely sharper ant F2 and I have many fond memories shooting with it as it was my main lens when I shot weddings. Truly a treasure in the Nikon series which never changed its original design. Regards Gerry

Two of my all time favorite lenses. I have or have had three or so generations of both focal lengths and I've always loved their renderings.

The Ai-S 35mm f/2 lens is the lens that got me into the nikon "religion" at the end of the 1980s: superb slides.
I was very disappointed with the AF version which I did not keep and replaced by the AF-S f/1.4 G as soon as it was released.
I kept my Ai-S in view of the great services rendered...!
