Title: Serengeti overland

We traveled to the Serengeti NP in Tanzania from South Africa, three vehicles, 10 000km's in four weeks. It was supposed to be a holiday but ended up an adventure. We needed a holiday when we returned :-)

The photos are not technically great, I bought my first DSLR (Nikon D70) a week before the trip and did not have much time to acquaint myself with it. To add to the quality I had limited memory cards and my backup system failed, leaving me taking Jpg's in economy mode.........

But none the less here is a peak into our adventure, crossing Botswana, Zambia, Lake Victoria by Ferry, Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Zimbabwe and back to South Africa. We did not cross one road twice, even getting home from the other side of town to our home.

We traveled close to the Burundi border and saw many UN refugee camps. I was severely scolded at by a soldier when taking the photo to the entry of the various refugee camps and we left in a big hurry.

The return leg along Lake Malawi was great, snorkeling, windsurfing, and taking a break from the constant travel for a few days. Lots of European youngsters traveling there for the laid back lifestyle and availability of marijuana.

We crossed the Tete province of Mozambique and Zimbabwe without too much sight seeing, we were homesick and longing back for the comforts of home.

the baobab against the blue skies and the cotton clouds is my favorite :)

My kind of adventure, still on the bucket list however, thanks for moving it up a few notches :)

And awesome images, these will be the images one looks at one last time before the lights go out permanently.

great memories and I am sure you could feel being right back there by re-visiting the images.
I love Tanzania for it's wildlife - and your photos are beautiful
