There seems to be not so much love for this "kit" lens. It has a very limited range and slow, variable aperture. In spite of this I've bought one, a "bulk" version (probably stripped from a Z5 kit) for just €279. I've added a JJC LH-98 hood from Amazon for €14 (the original Nikon is a ridiculous €40).
Why did I buy it? It's very compact and light just 195gr and lately most of my photography fits in the 24-50mm range and is shot at f5.6-f11. I also expected the image quality to be very good for my intended use on holidays and travel.
Yesterday I shot some images to see if my expectations were met. I've included some comparisons of similar scenes with the Z 24-70mm f4 S.

In my opinion the Z 24-50mm does quite well. The 24-70mm f4 S is the better lens but imo in these scenes the difference in image quality is not that big.

A nice weather lens, like the Zfc 16-50 kitlens ;), which is sharp and convenient in its simplicity.

True Fons, and from what I've read and seen the DX 16-50mm is even better.

Great Results, Luc. If it fits your needs, than this one is the perfect solution.
