105/1.8 Repair?

(1/2) > >>

Tristin:
My beloved 105/1.8 took a fall without it's rear cap and the result is as shown.  The focus ring can't rotate outside of ~.9-1.3m and the aperature is stuck at 5.6.  It won't mount so I have no idea if the impact jostled the elements, but a simple flashlight examination shows no issues.  What do you guys think, worth repairing?  I hope so!  If anyone is so inclined, I would be more than happy to pay for the job.  This is an excellent sample, and would like to keep it instead of getting a new one.

richardHaw:
maybe worth a try  :o :o :o

Akira:
Welcome back, Tristin.  The only regret is that you returned with the sad news.  Wish your problem is solved in any way pleasing to you.

richardHaw:
going to make an article on this one of these days...the 135/2 is coming soon :o :o :o

Birna Rørslett:
I suggest you remove the black stray-light baffle first, then see if that's the reason the lens workings are jammed. The baffle is kept in place by three small screws, plus probably also the stop screw (even smaller). You need to use JIS screw drivers otherwise there is a danger of stripping the screw heads.

If the lens once free of the baffle works, the remaining task is to reshape the baffle into a round form again. Or try shooting without until a replacement is found.
