Hans Hansson. Antarctic Sunset
« on: March 06, 2019, 12:27:53 »
I spent the last two weeks of January aboard the Hans Hansson in Antarctica. This was a photography expedition organised by Visionary Wild, whose founder Justin Black was one of the professional tutors.  The other tutor was  Daisy Gilardini, with whom I have travelled in the past.

I am still working through thousands of photos, but these will do as a start.

What an experience.   I also look forward to more Images.   The way things seem to be headed you may  need to plan a trip in a few (?) years to see how things have changed.  I just heard last night that Leh, Ladakh flooded last year due to Glacial melt.
Cheers,

Stepping back in time:

- dawn over Brazil on the flight form London to Santiago de Chile.
- iPhone shot of the plane which took us from Punta Arenas to King George Island, where we joined the Hans Hansson.

One day you can tell your great grand kids that you have seen ice on the poles and London was not right at the coast...

joke aside, love the pictures, calling for more!

What Jakov said - these are beautiful photos.  I like the atmosphere of the first two with the ship and icebergs through the scattered snowflakes - were these taken from the shore, or were you out in a smaller boat?  I'd be interested to know where along the Peninsula these were taken.  Keep them coming!  Cheers,  John

Thank you all for your comments.

Frank, having just been to my first grandchild's first birthday party, I may have to wait some time for the great grandchildren!

Beryllium, the first two were taken from a Zodiac while we were on an iceberg cruise.  We were near Cuverville Island at the time.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cuverville_Island

Fons, yes, all Fuji X-T3 apart from the iPhone shot.
