Thanks for noting the actual lens ID, I mislabelled the photo (now corrected).

The D3S is the generation model of choice for me, I still have at least one floating around but [too] rarely use it. I tried a full-spectrum conversion of the D3 that failed due to the internal shutter-LED monitor, and hence sold off the camera.

Winter night in the old parts of Oslo.
I like this high-ISO look, you are a past master of it.  Also the railroad tracks shot is [presumably] a lovely demo of what is accomplished with the tilt function. Many great 80/85 photos here.

Winter night in the old parts of Oslo. 85mm f/1.4 AIS AFD 85mm f/1.4 on the D3. A modern camera probably might reduce noise more, but hardly impact or improve the scene mood :D

Wow, what a great moody picture (and must have been slippery too  ;) ) !

Avoid sneakers or high heels and there should be little problem. The snow cover is thin on the ground :)

Sometimes Norwegian authorities surprise us. For example, by putting up megalithic monuments along roads crossing the mountain backbone of Norway. Still no idea why they do this other than making a "window" into the landscape view??

85mm f/2.8 PC-Nikkor on a D2X, B+W 403 filter. Neither UV nor IR, but nice nevertheless. The "window" monument itself is > 2m tall and must weigh tons. One of the glaciers in Jotunheimen, Smørstabbreen, is seen through the forced viewpoint.

Just sitting in a hotel room in Moscow when writing this. I`m also a lover of the 85mm Nikkor lenses. If you have the NPCI (Nikon Photo Contest International) calendar from 2000, then you can see a picture taken by me (august image 2000) in that calendar. The image is taken from a bridge with Nikon FA and Nikkor 85mm f/2 on apertude f/5.6. Please see the name of the photographer down to right and also on the calerndar`s last page where all the thirteen images (including the front page) is shown. See you!
One picture taken is far better than none!

I have a similar shot taken @28 mm and FF (not shown here: it would be OT) in Aug.2018. My POV is a little more to the right, the perspective is different. You can see it in the Objet trouvé theme. I have been wondering too on the meaning of such a heavy "frame" in that particular context. It gave me the same feeling when I saw the Snøhetta Viewpoint (Dovrefjell): An artificially superimposed concept, adding nothing (instead removing ) to your own experience. Better walking around and finding more inspiration without some "artist" giving preconfectioned hints.

Nonetheless, like Birna I have taken a few pictures around the monolith... Maybe the "artist" would say Mission Accomplished!

I made a small mistake - the first one is taken by another 85 - 1.8 D :-)

And I have so many portraits taken with 1.4 - as I used it a lot for my "100 strangers" series on Flickr.
