We have some talent here, yes.

A question about the intention of the thread: is it to show the lens characteristics or the photographic skill or the editing?

For lens characteristic I cannot contribute so much, because so far I did only own two lenses of 85mm for a long time the AFS and AFD 1.8 plus I had the AFS 1.4 for a week and the AFD 1.4 for half a year and did not use it much, because I did really hate the sound of its screw driver AF.

Showing the different lens characteristics is my intention at least...

The older PC Micro Nikkor 85/f2.8  and d850. Somewhere in the old southern graveyard in Munich. 80-85 and the ''leaves'' theme in one.

Were you in the alter Südfriedhof?  I haven't been there, but I used to go to Senlinger Tor where there was a camera shop (Schuster?).

Hello Mr. Akira. Of course yes. It seems you have got a very good memory. greetings, richard. Here we go. Südfriedhof (Yes). Sendlimger Tor is near (yes). Also "Schuster" fits with the first letter S... The phototools-shop is named "Sauter". View from tramway-station at Sendlinger Tor through the Sonnenstraße july 2017. Foto S.. Sauter at the left. I will not disturb the "show your 80-85mm images threat here with those images. Richard, thank you very much for the confirmation!  Yes, Sauter!  Apparently, the outlook of the shop hasn't really been changed, although the shops (or the buildings) on both sides of Sauter look different from the way it was 30+ years ago.

And thank you for the image.  I happily downloaded!

This thread is making me want to jump on an AF-S 85 1.8, but it would be mounted on my D7200 since I don't own an FX body.

Sorry, I am not able to post anything taken with my old well-forgotten 80/2.8 Nikkor AF, on Nikon F3AF. As well as 200mm wonder. No digital files, and no any reliable way to convert to them. Somebodies experience will be greatly appreciated! THX!  LZ

If you think of the 200/3.5 ED-IF for the F3AF, it's a breeze to make it acceptable to modern cameras. Just snip off the contact print lane going into the lens. Same procedure goes for the 80/2.8 AF.

The pin layout on these old AF lenses is incompatible with modern circuits and one runs the risk of short-circuiting the camerera battery or damage the camera innards. When the CPU of these lenses is removed or inactivated as described above, they work both as any manual focus lens.

The 1.8/85G is a breeze to use on the D500. The 7200 should be a great experience too and you can later use it on FX too

Thank you, Birna! Unfortunately, I've sold all of F3AF gears way before digital era. But I still keeping the negatives and slides, so, it was my question for - how to convert them to regular today's files. Even the best drums 4-5 years ago did not delivered any acceptable result. Yes, I agree on the way to convert those old AF lenses - it was what I've done to the 28 lens inside that system, to try on F4, but this particular lens was not that good. Thank you!   LZ

I am currently copying my fathers old slides from the 1960's I have been using my new D800 with the 55mm Micro but I would have thought with a shorter lens perhaps a 28mm crc, you would get very acceptable results.  I am extremely pleased with my results, I am taking five bracketed exposures of each slide and it is allowing me to copy slides which were pretty under exposed revealing much of the shadow detail.  Way better than scanning them and faster too.

.   Sorry, Klaus! You know, Seapy, even drum scanner, which delivered about 20X more half-tones and way better color and resolution, is not enough for quality copy to post here! It is interesting to post all of potential of this old 80/2.8 AF Nikkor, but impossible, so far... I am really sorry!   LZ
