Used to be a calamity to some french rivers banks ! I guess their number have gone down nowadays as the good old castor is making a comeback ! Neither are much liked by farmers and other land owners (we do live in a "cramped" nature over here), but Nature preservation has made it's way through most people minds and spotting a Ragondin can be a welcome event :D

The French did what they do best: "If you can't beat'm, eat'm!!!" :P
So they turned it into a gourmet dish… nothing to do with the newly
presence beaver.
