a staircase and some filigran columns hold the concrete sheets in place, creating a huge free space per level like Le Corbussier originally imagined. The open space can then be reconfigured ad libitum as can the facade which has no static function. It only keeps the wind out and decorates the building.

I see this sort of construction in many parts of the world. I live in a seismic zone so we are always having to provide large amounts of lateral support (shear walls, diagonal bracing etc.) to keep those large concrete planes from collapsing like a house of cards.

We live in a seismic zone too. Earthquakes of size 6 Richter scale can be expected. I do not know how oversized the seismic security is, but size 7 or 8 should be safe with German construction regulation. I will chack that

A drama it is with this bridge. They could have done the work in 4 months: prefabricate the parts in a factory, tear the bridge down, assemble the parts. They opted for the 3 year option. Now we will probably see a 5 year half defunct bridge. For long periods nothing happened at all. No company wanted to place an offer for tearing down the bridge heads.... currently they have poured the concrete piers and one of two new bridge heads.

sometimes I see normal construction sites that look like a work of Christo and Jean-Claude:

This is my site in spring 2018, when I had the old structure torn down to make place for the new structure...
