One of the few "teenage" Great Crested Grèbe
at the marsh this morning…

Nice composition with the spreading ripples around the bird, and a nice coppery colour in the reflections.  I might be tempted to lighten it overall, or selectively lighten the water to make the bird's head stand out a bit more, but purely a matter of taste.

It's very in the center of the frame and I would definitely also brighten it

Thank you both! :P

Yes, thanks to the autumn foliage colour

— selectively lighten the water to make the bird's head stand out a bit more, but purely a matter of taste.

The very low and harsh morning Sun gives a strong directionality
to the light in the scene and stretches the DR, between the dark
wing tips and the bright throat feathers. The young GCG may not
be as colourful as the adults are but the shades are nevertheless
on the tamed mid-tones side of it, enhancing micro contrast and
colours.

The more active a subject is, the more room I tend to leave in front
of it but this guy is going nowhere… yes, points to be explored.
