Lille, 50 plus 500

Summicron R and Reflex Nikkor 500 went downtown. I guess I do not need to tell which is which.

Great series ... ;)
I don't recognize the building in upheaval ?( I don't recognize the Belfry either)! But I mostly know Five Cail and Lomme around Le Blan-Lafont and of course Portzy's "Ski shoe"  :o

The "enucleated" building is the former academy of medecine. The belfry framed by a window arcade is that of St Michel church. The university has been transferred to Villeneuve d'Ascq, I think, decades ago, and the old buildings were rented out to various administrations, including the British cultural centre until about ten years ago. The whole was in a very bad condition. Now they're turning the whole into a mix of apartments, hotel, offices, and an arts gallery.

I'd rather enjoy the way you use these extremely different lens without making their characters obvious.  I'm attracted to the contemplative images.

Well, at the time of selecting the pics for this series, I did not really think it over but you are right.

There are some similarities between the wide open Summicron and the Reflex Nikkor : some vignetting, moderate constrat, and in both cases a very clean image (low distortion, low CA...).

The two 500 pics here are the closed café and the painted fish ; in the absence of fore- or background, the lens does not get betrayed by its bokeh. I could not have framed the two with the Summicron because of the distance (fish) or the danger of standing in the middle of a street (café), but this cannot be guessed by the viewer.

Thank you for the details.  I have to confess that my guess was not 100% accurate.  :)

...or your characteristic, though discreet, photographic style.

When you are inspired to release the shutter, your character will shine through the images.   8)

not part of the series: one more shot with the Reflex Nikkor. You may recognize the building reflected in the first shot of the series.
