A Confusion of Wings
« on: June 11, 2018, 12:02:00 »
These pelicans were flying so close together it made for an interesting photo. The coloration of the birds is as it came from the camera with just some slight adjustments for exposure. It must have been the angle of the sun hitting them because one does not usually see them looking so gray. White, yes, brown, yes, but not gray.
Nikon D500, 70-200 f/2.8 VR at 200 mm.  f/9, 1/4000 sec., ISO 3200.

I think it was a white balance issue. When I changed the white balance to daylight, the colors became much more true to life. I've become so used to the D500 getting the color balance right, that when it didn't do it. it took me awhile to recognize it,
